Asking for help from the experts - Your Reiki Guides
When you’re attuned to Reiki, you may meet new guides that are there to help you along your Reiki journey.
Most students meet them during level 2 or 3 training and attunement.
While some practitioners work with one guide exclusively, I’m fortunate enough to have 4 Reiki guides that I work with.
Every journey is different and one way isn’t better or worse than another.
Working with your Reiki guides is a fun and fulfilling experience.
They can help to teach you new things and help to validate things you already know.
I like to work with my Reiki guides in a few different ways.
Reiki Guides As Teachers
My Reiki guides are always available to answer questions and help me figure things out.
Once, I read something that didn’t seem right to me.
I asked them and they said that it didn’t work that way for me and that I could safely leave that part of the instructions out.
Another time, I was curious about certain hand placements I was using.
One of my guides made a suggestion and it helped to improve my Reiki practice.
If you have any questions about Reiki, I recommend going to your Reiki guides first. They are going to have the best answer for you.
Then check with your teacher (or maybe the internet).
Reiki Guides As Helpers
One of the most usual ways I see people getting help from their guides is during actual Reiki sessions.
All guides are a great resource in this area, and Reiki guides are there to lend you a little extra assistance.
Sometimes it’s in the hand placements, sometimes it’s in how long to stay in a certain area.
There are even times that clients will say they felt an extra set of hands while they were receiving Reiki.
In my experience, that has always been when my guides were helping me out.
This happened while I was in a Reiki share and giving Reiki to someone.
I had been near the crown chakra and sending Reiki to her whole body when I got the intuitive nudge to move down to her shoulders.
At that point, her Reiki guide appeared to me and said that she would continue to do Reiki at the crown, while I moved through the rest of her chakras.
It was a humbling experience to say the least and I was so glad for the extra support.
When I asked her about it after, she laughed and said that she felt like someone had been standing at her head the entire session!
That session got me thinking… If her Reiki guide was there to help out during her session, could my Reiki guides help me out?
Which led me to my third and I think the most underused help from our Reiki guides.
Reiki Guides As Reiki Givers
After a nice meditation, I asked my guides if they would give me Reiki and they all gave a resounding “Yes!”
I set the scene like I would for any Reiki session.
I dimmed the lights, lit some incense, and got comfy on my bed.
I relaxed and visualized them standing around me and they started to give me Reiki.
They worked through my chakras and spent time on a few trouble areas.
I can wholeheartedly say that the entire thing felt amazing!
I even fell asleep at one point (which we all know sometimes happens to clients…) and I woke up feeling so refreshed.
It was my own little Reiki nap!
It even felt like I got to know my guides a little bit better.
Try this exercise to do some self Reiki with a big boost from your guides.
Set up the space.
Set everything up just like you would for a client.
Make sure the sights, smells, and sounds are all set.
Ask your guides for Reiki
Just a simple, “please give me Reiki” works.
Start self Reiki
Lay down on your bed or your Reiki table and start doing self Reiki.
Follow the process that feels natural.
Relax and enjoy the session
Just like you would help a client relax, let yourself relax. You’re in good hands with your Reiki team.
Journal
And just like you would advise a client, journal about any sensations or messages you receive during the session.
There have been plenty of times that one of my guides has pointed something out that I had been avoiding or ignoring.
And don’t be afraid to mix it up!
At times I’ve invited Archangel Raphael to help with the Reiki and my healing.
The archangels are always willing to help.
While this is a very helpful practice to have, I’ve found that it’s not a full substitute for going to another Reiki practitioner.
There is something to be said for making the time to ask for and receive Reiki from another practitioner.
If you’ve been attuned to Reiki, and haven’t met your guides yet, then check out the exercise in Spirit Guides.
The process is the same, just hold the specific intention to meet your Reiki guide(s).
Or ask your Reiki teacher to see what they have to say. Some teachers like to wait until level 3 to introduce guides.
