Your Intuitive Muscle
Start practicing to flex your intuitive muscle šŖš»
In 2024, I was interviewed about my spiritual journey and life coaching on the Make Dreams Happen Podcast with Josef Diaz.
We talked about spirituality, intuition, and the trials of authenticity that we all go through in our lives.
One of his questions about intuition really stuck with me.
Intuition is something I use all the time, itās second nature to me.
But itās a muscle that not everyoneās developed.
I realized itās like comparing yourself to a professional athlete and wondering why you canāt run as fast.
The easy answer is lots of practice. š
An athlete is in the gym every day, constantly pushing their muscles to new limits.
As a psychic, thatās how my intuition works.
Iām using it every day in almost every situation and each time it gets stronger and stronger.
Josef asked, āHow do you improve your intuition?ā
My answer was to just start listening. Thatās it.
You donāt even have to actually do what your intuition tells you.
You can just listen and then do whatever you want.
Thatās the beauty of free will.
Your intuition is always talking to you but when youāve spent your entire life being told to ignore it, itās easy to miss it.
People call it all sorts of things.
In the professional corporate world itās called instincts or gut feelings.
In other places itās vibes and energy.
In all cases, itās your intuition speaking to you about a situation.
Tapping into the quantum field and picking up information that your brain has no real way of proving.
When someone wants to start getting fit, they donāt jump to the free weights and start pumping out reps with the 100 pound dumbbells.
The easiest thing that someone can do to start their fitness journey is to start walking.
Itās as simple as that.
Speaking from personal experience after a long couple years away from the gym, this is what helped me get back into shape.
(It also helps to have a partner that is a certified personal trainerā¦)
The easiest way to start listening to your intuition is to make time for it.
In that same interview with Josef, I said that if everyone just gave 5 minutes a day for meditation, their lives would greatly improve.
Thatās the key to making time and space for your intuition.
And if you canāt find a full 5 minutes for yourself, make it one.
Literally spend 1 minute to put your phone down, focus on your breath, and quiet your mind.
The more you start to flex and listen to your intuition, the stronger it will get.
Your inner intuitive voice will get louder and louder.
The next step from listening is recording.
Rather than just paying attention to your intuition, start writing it all down.
You can text yourself, use the notes app on your phone, or keep an actual journal (I do a frenzied mix of all three!).
Writing it down helps to solidify it in your mind, even if you still donāt take action on it, at least youāll have a record to look back on.
I suggest making a note alongside if you followed it or not.
Youāll start to notice a pattern.
Your intuition will always be right.
Now there will be times that you canāt prove that, and thatās ok.
Sometimes itās just about listening and being aware of it.
And there will be times when your intuition seems to have put you in the wrong spot.
I might not admit it to everyone, but I use my intuition a lot in my day job.
Especially when it comes to hiring new people.
Iāve been fortunate in that the department I manage has some very long term employees that arenāt going anywhere.
But thereās been a few spots that seem to churn through employees.
I havenāt figured out the pattern for it just yet, and Iāve since let that go.
Each time I interview or hire for the position, I follow my intuition with the candidate to pick.
One new hire stayed for 5 full business days.
Another lasted 90.
And yet another lasted a few months before emailing me on a Monday morning that they would not be coming in because the company never listened to their ideas.
Each time, I wondered why my intuition had told me to hire them or bring them into the department.
In most cases, I still donāt know the answer.
In others, I can make some assumptions, but I still donāt know for sure.
Thatās the thing about intuition, your mind wonāt always know the logical reason for it.
And that can be really frustrating when youāre trying to analyze a pattern.
In all fairness, each time someone quit it built my business ingenuity.
Although it caused me stress in the short term, the long term solutions have moved the company forward in ways I never realized were possible.
If I never know any other reason than that, Iām thankful for my intuition guiding me into those situations.
Your Intuition Workout Plan
When someone wants to get fit, they get a fitness and nutrition plan.
So if youāre looking to build your intuitive muscles, hereās your 4 step plan:
Just listen - Nothing else required, just be willing to listen to what your intuition says. The nudges and the whispers from your spirit.
Scheduled meditation - Prioritize at least 5 minutes a day of meditation. Find a guided track online or simply sit in silence and listen to your breathing.
Record your progress - LA Fitness used to have an ad that said, āwhat gets measured gets improvedā. The same applies to your intuition. Record your intuition in a journal or notes.
Take action - Start to follow your intuition and take action from what it tells you, even if you canāt fully explain it.
And just like with a fitness plan, thereās an infinite number of ways to workout.
You can use free weights, machines, kettlebells, pilates, and cardio.
The same applies to intuition.
The tools are infinite. Tarot, astrology, Human Design, reiki, channeling, and more!
If youāre looking for some extra help and guidance while building your intuition (just like in fitness), you can hire a trainer.
If you think a trainer would help, let me know.
The Spirit Guide Sync-Up is a 6 week course to help you develop a relationship with your guides and build your intuition.
