Looking for the Signs
đŚ đ â ď¸ â
It seems funny to be writing another article on signs.
After I missed that last one (Signs, Social Media, & Turtles), youâd think that I would be moving on to a new topic.
But then I started The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein.
In it, she has a chapter called, âThe Universe Moves Fast When Youâre Having Funâ.
It got me thinking about my work at my day job.
Itâs been a tough week and I havenât exactly been working at 100%.
I know everyone has off weeks, but it just felt like I couldnât get my feet under me.
There have been a lot of changes and Iâve felt like Iâm constantly playing catch up and canât get ahead.
I know a lot of that is mindset so I was looking for a way to get ahead of it.
Then the Universe delivered (pretty quickly I might add).
Gabby talks about making time for the joy and fun that the Universe loves so much.
The expansive abundance that is our natural state.
I made a choice that night to find a way to make my day job more fun.
I didnât know what that would be, but I opened my mind to the possibility of it.
As I continued to read the chapter, she gave an example of how she asked the Universe for a sign that she was moving in the right direction.
I thought it was a nice story and left it at that.
Then the next morning, I was driving to work and as I merged off the freeway, I saw a hawk swoop down overhead.
I hadnât even asked for a sign, but Iâd just been thinking about how I hadnât seen a hawk in a while.
So I took it as a sign from the Universe that I was on the right track.
I always make notes of the signs I receive, and for some reason I found it important to note the name of the street I was on when I saw it (Iâm not sure Iâve ever even done that before).
The name of the street was Priest Road.
It wasnât until a couple days later when I was telling my best friend about the story that even more puzzle pieces came together.
Whenever Hawk shows up in my life, itâs a reminder for me to focus on the higher vision, to zoom out and make sure Iâm on the right path.
Priest is part of the root of my name.
Preston comes from the phrase, âof the priestâs estateâ (priest-town).
Not only was Hawk a reminder that I was on the right path, but it was nudging me further along my spiritual development.
Iâve always thought of myself as a teacher, and this was a reminder to continue to focus on the spiritual classes that Iâve been teaching.
To keep focusing on how to find new ways to teach more people and share my knowledge.
To be the âpriestâ AKA, spiritual leader.
As I finished the chapter in Gabbyâs book, she presents a few steps for asking the Universe for your own signs.
After all the messages I already received, I hesitated to ask for another.
It felt like I was being greedy and asking for âmore more moreâ.
Then a feeling washed over me, reminding me of how abundant the Universe is and how there will never be a shortage of âsignsâ.
It was a reminder that in our ever expanding Universe, there is always room for more.
So thinking back to the last time when I missed the sign, I asked the Universe for a turtle.
My mind instantly flashed to all the ways I could force the turtle into my life.
I made a conscious choice to set all those ways aside and then continued on with my night.
As I was looking for a screenshot of a recipe I had saved earlier, I found an old screenshot with a turtle in it from an old tarot reading.
In it, the turtle is The Hermit (from the Wild Unknown).
It sorta felt like cheating because it wasnât a natural âsignâ.
Although now looking back, the Hermit is also a spiritual teacher in the tarot.
And I hadnât honestly made that connection back to the Hawk-Priest message until now. đ
Well that was clearly a sign⌠That I missed⌠Right in front of me! (again)
Some things are really clear in hindsight, to say the least.
But I digress.
A few days after asking for the turtle (and not fully accepting the original sign), I was driving along the interstate when I saw a turtle with a spiral designed into the artwork on the side of the road.
I hadnât really been thinking about anything in particular but it triggered me to look at the name of the overpass that I was driving by.
It said âCarefree Highwayâ.
It was a not so subtle nudge and reminder that I was supposed to be having fun with the things I was working on.
To be more carefree and joyful.
To make that my intention, to just have fun and feel good!
Whatâs the lesson here?
Like Gabby says, the Universe works fast when youâre having fun.
In the course of 4 days, I had a lot of signs pointing me all in the same direction.
Clear reminders that Iâm in exactly the right place and moving towards my goals.
So ask for signs, but remember to be taking action in the meantime.
Donât let the search for the sign turn into your actual mission.
Itâs important to move forward and claim your power and have fun.
When you do, the Universe will speak to you loud and clear.
Just get out of your own way.
